How cool is this?

Just awaiting the frothing reaction from the purists, but if it means that old cars (..unlike the dreadful looking electric new cars that are around) can still be enjoyed then so be it.

The UK is to ban (apparently) all internal combustion engine sales by 2040 and in Scotland by 2032. India and China to to affect their bans in 2025.

This means, that here in the UK, MOT testing will get stricter (already starting in May 2018) to encourage us to lean toward electric vehicles (how this works with commercials and campers I've no idea) before these dates.

The ones that will escape are those vehicles with a Historic ticket, but I bet this will end at some point despite the current 'rolling' arrangement. Meaning that new IC powered cars will suffer maybe a ten year enforced scrappage.

So, if you wish to keep running an IC powered vehicle, then this is the time to acquire that Historic ticketed car you've always fancied, as the demand for these vehicles is only going to increase and as such, so will the prices. If you think classic prices are expensive right now, give it five years when we will know more about what going to happen. ££££!!

The ones I feel sorry for are those with their head in the sand who are still happy to pay six figures for a high spec IC powered car as I feel these cars will become worthless in ten years time when pressures on the use of IC motors increase. We're already seeing this with the new 2018 ZR1 Corvette that now won't be sold in Europe, but we will see the mid engine version this year which is obviously a test bed for the first electric Corvette and that will be a big hit in Europe (sales is where its at, export or die!).

Alternatives? Dig out those rusty barn find Capri's and MG's and prepare to make a killing by having them converted.. If push comes to shove, what would you prefer to run as a daily? A Prius ..or an electric MG??
